Q & A with Rachel Chow
What were the two biggest roadblocks to starting your blog, and how did you overcome them?
Staying Inspired & Time Management - I think it's crucial to always come back to that underlying passion and motivation of why you started your blog.
For me, I love writing and love having a voice for myself and for others through my blog. At first it started as a hobby and something that allowed me to jot my thoughts down but slowly after working at it, I've received some pretty cool sponsorships + partnerships which is always satisfying :)
Time management has always been a struggle for me and honestly still is! Working at an influencer marketing company 9-5 and then having to work on my own blog afterwards is definitely exhausting but having that passion for my blog definitely helps me keep goin!
What social platform has made the largest impact on your blog, and how much time and planning do you put into it?
Instagram for sure has made a huge impact on my blog. I love how personal it can be through it's story feature. I put a good amount of planning into it, everything from scheduling posts, to creating captivating captions, and editing pictures.
Not to mention actively engaging with other users on the platform 24/7 !
What bloggers do you think are doing great things with their branding? What makes it so good?
- Nichole Ciotti- SF Blogger, I met her recently and she has such true passion for what she blogs and recommends and you can really see it through her content + she is very sweet!
- NotYourStandard- I love her style and fashion sense, everything is very cohesive which not only makes it aesthetically pleasing to the eye but also interesting to her readers.
- Melanie Sutrathada- Very genuine and excited about her content- we need more bloggers like her to remind everyone of why they started blogging in the first place.
- Hannah Bronfman- An actual girl boss. From starting her own business, DJ'ing and being the ultimate hustle she is goals. I like how she gets personal with her fans via insta-stories by letting her fans see what she does on a day to day basis from what she eats to what she wears and what she does to workout.
What apps could you not live without?
Instagram, FB, Twitter, VSCO, Lightroom - these are all things that help make my blog THAT much better.
What is the most indispensable piece of advice you would give to someone who is currently in the process of launching a blog?
Do it for the right reasons. Blogging should be a passion first and then a money maker second. You should always believe in everything that your post on your blog and stay authentic!
What is something you've recently achieved with your blog, and then what is somethings you are working towards?
Sponsorships have been a huge thing for me in the last couple of months. I started my blog as a hobby and kept working towards it where I would get noticed by brands which is amazing!
But just like any blogger, I still have a lot to work towards including getting my social following up.
